HowTo: Get GG5 working with zBlock

As some of you may have found out the hard way, zBlock blocks the creation of cvars, which in turn breaks gungame5. To get around this you need to have zBlock disabled while loading GG5. The cvar zb_active to enable/disable zBlock. When setting zb_active 0 it does not take effect until the next game frame. Because of this, here is the recommended way to disable zBlock and get GG5 loaded.

Located in your cstrike/cfg folder open autoexec.cfg. If the file does not exist, create it. Add the following line.

es_xdelayed 0.3 es_xload gungame; zb_active 1


Remember that you should not have "es_load gungame" in your autoexec.cfg if you are doing this since you are now loading it from the server.cfg.

I don't understand what you mean? Would zBlock not still offer the same protection? It will be disabled for all of 2 gameframes, and before any player can join the server.

Oh misread the fix :P sorry,

But what i still don't get is why people run zblock on a public server.

Also 1 thing, what does zblock protect your server from?

# Prevents Sound based cheats (with sv_consistency 1)

Those are the only 2 which i can see have any real effect, and tbh that list is very small. I always wanted to know what they actually block, i have seen scripts like on ES and SourceMod which block about 30, but zblock claim they have alot more.

Also sound based cheats are silly, it blocks them by blocking all sounds so you can just sv_pure 2 to do that.

RideGuy. I tested this today and delaying by 0 doesn't work. The shortest delay I could get it to work on was 0.25. I changed the example in your post to 0.3 so that this fix will work for people.

Can I ask, does the ordering in autoexec.cfg matter?

Could you not put:

zb_active 0
es_xdelayed 0.3 es_xload gungame
es_xdelayed 0.5 zb_active 1

...and get the same effect? The reason I ask is I'm just plain uncomfortable with running one-time configs over and over in server.cfg instead of autoexec.cfg.

i have tried putting this code in but it dont seem to work i have to keep reloading gungame5 within game

Please post your ../cfg/autoexec.cfg and ../cfg/server.cfg.

Remember to edit out your rcon_password and sv_password when posting it.

HI lads. i have a server with gg5 and zblock v3.2.3 and works a treat i have it on dmatch to and works mint bodies dissapear..
but i am creating a new server and zblock is now on 4.2. thing is with out zblock it works great on dmatch gg bodies disapear, but soon
as load zblock 4.2 the bodies stay around and don't dissapear. Now i have done the same setttings on how to get it working but it just dont work! for me like it does with 3.2.3, any idea wot zblock mite of done here?

consistency error....
Server is enforcing consistency for this file:
maps\gg_simpsons_desert.bsp
and kick you from server., but then u reconnect and get on but this is a pain u get gamers go to other server and u loose players.
So i went on zblock forums and seen some one else pos on there with same thing and he got this

"There is no fix for this error, I'm not sure if VALVe have fixed it in the Orange Box/L4D engine yet.

zBlock isn't really for public "fun" servers."

On the servers I admin, we use humans as anti-cheats :P

ZBlock is more hassle than it's worth for a pub if you ask me.

On the servers I admin, we use humans as anti-cheats


yeh there is that too , but most humans think when they own u they cheat :lol:

Hi all. I noticed when zblock did some updates from 3.2 to 4.4 on my server, i was getting consistency errors....
Server is enforcing consistency for this file:
maps\gg_simpsons_desert.bsp And the rag_dolls stayed about on deathmatch!

But I found away to get ZBLOCK 4.4 working on my server with the help of this fixed viewtopic.php?f=12&t=937 when steam did an update in August and messsed the repawn up on GG5. But this fixed sorted ZBLOCK4.4 out!! for my server !

this how i got it to worked "YOU DONT NEED TO ADD RIDEGUYS COMMAND IF U HAVE THEM REMOVE THEM AND JUST FOLOW THIS SIMPLE COMMAND".

OK instead of adding these command lines to your auto CFG from this thread viewtopic.php?f=12&t=937
es_load gg_spawn
es_load gungame

just ad them to you server CFG, and ZBLOCK4.4 works a treat :D

You should still need to delay the gungame load as Rideguy explained in the first post. As ZBlock needs to load before gungame does.

Hello. not really you don't even need Rideguys methhod, Rideguys, worked with Zblock3.2 and when zblock updated it stopped working with GG5..
ragdolls stayed about on deatmatch and consistency errors on maps !

Rideguys methhod was there to help with the ragdolls on gungame deathmath thats why the delay was there :D

So no you don't need Rideguys method! as long as you get the ragdols to disapear on gungame deathmatch you dont need the dealy for Zblock to work
All you have to do is follow what i have done to get it to work 8-) .. It as kicked exploiters and no more bunny-hoppers on my server ! :lol:

So all i'm trying to do is let you know it works ;)

I don't think you understand what zblock does to GG5.

zBlock stops the creation of public cvars. Without them gungame cannot function properly. This is why we disable zblock. Only zblock does not turn off right away, it takes at least 1 gameframe (more than 1 gameframe on Linux) which is why we delay starting GG5 and re-enabling zblock).

Ragdolls not being removed could easily be caused by this issue.

HI Rideguy, i get a idea wot Zblock does to gungame 5 . i use kac anticheat which stops alot of puplic cvars
But what i am saying zblock 4.4 works fine with gungame 5 deathmatch on my server and i do not get any errors
game server runs smooth ragdolls disapear. i even removed GG5 from my pc side to check files and addons install ok and all was fine
I config pure 1 to allow sounds and server side addons . had no conplaints yet of anyone saying they cant get on server !
infact they are happy with extra security .

Sorry if i have misread your comment but to me as long as gg5 death match works with Zblock4.4 i am happy to use it and let u know i am using it with no props ;)
