Config Files?

Postby Huggs » Mon Apr 05, 2010 12:44 am

I installed the v5.1 folder and load it in my Autoexec (restarted server).
It seems to run, but all of my configurations are gone like weapon order.
I copied the old v5 configs like gg_en_cfg, gg_server, and gg_default_addons to the gungame51 folder, but they don't seem to be controlling anything.
My server starts up on Shotty (OK) with bots (yay!), but not with reverse weapon order (ie glock) and there is no advancement after kills.
Sorry if I'm being dense, but what am I missing?

PCH

PS - Thanks for your hard work

PPS - I tried to go back v5 and it's doing the same thing. Something must be wrong with the exrtra bits I installed-
EventScripts 2.0.0.250+
EventScripts 2.0.0.252
../addons/eventscripts/_libs/python/playerlib
Source Python Extensions
I have no idea what I did wrong

Hello. I have added a question to our FAQ to address this question here.

I have also added a new memo to the top of the Updating wiki page.
This memo states that if you are updating from a previous GunGame version, to follow the installation instructions.

Thanks for the very prompt response and for the documentation.

Installation Troubleshooting
Can I copy my previous GunGame configuration files into "../cfg/gungame51/"?
As a general rule, no. GunGame5.1 has a differing configuration file structure than previous version of GunGame.
The only exceptions would be if you are updating from GunGame5 to GunGame5.1, in which case the following directories may be copied without issue:
* ../cfg/gungame5/spawnpoints/ to ../cfg/gungame51/spawnpoints/
* ../cfg/gungame5/weapon_orders/ to ../cfg/gungame51/weapon_orders/

I copied my Spawnpoints and WeaponOrders.
What IS the new config structure? Where do I put the settings from my old -
gg_default_addons
gg_en_config
gg_map_vote
gg_server <- this is the only one that came with the install

With just a basic installation - no configuration files, it just runs the maps, but not as gungame (no advancement).
I'm sorry, but it's likely something very stupid that I'm doing.
I tried to follow all of the installation instructions carefully.

Best regards,
PCH

I did a reinstallation - everything out of the box.
I restarted the server. (es_load gungame51 in my autoexec)
The only CFG file I see in my cfg\gungame51 directory -
server.cfg (empty - just comment at the top)
There is also a gg_vote_list.txt file (sample)

Image

custom_addon_configs is empty
included_addon_configs has two text files
I copied the Spawnpoints and WeaponOrders folders from v5, but this doesn't help.

PCH

What does es_load gungame51 in the server console return to you?

I want to thank you guys for your hard work on this release and for your patience helping me with my problems.
I re-downloaded and reinstalled the EventScripts files.
Gungame is now running normally!

I see all of the new Config files now.
Are these variables/setting the full set that are available?
I noticed that a few of the older options like the Warmup Round is no longing present.
Should this type of option be taken care of in an addon now?

Thanks again,
PCH

Look in ../cfg/gungame51/included_addon_configs/gg_warmup_round.cfg.

Wow - that's the MotherLoad of Config Files!
I had a whole list of question - maybe tomorrow after I go through the all those configs.
Thank again for all of your help and patience.

Your WINNER_SOUNDS.TXT could use a comment about the relative path for the MP3s.
I got it to work, but I'm sure others will have problems.

Every this is working great. I love the new config files!

I think my last problem is with MAP Configs. They don't seem to be working.

I like to setup each map with it's own configuration in CSTRIKE/MAPS/CONFIG
Is this still the correct location for Map Config files? Are the file names still MAP_NAME.CFG?
The features I change are:

DeathMatch
Elimination
Normal (no DM or Elim)

Normal Advancement (at end of round)
Turbo Mode

Number of Kills to Advance

Here are a few samples -

ELIMINATION
----------------
gg_deathmatch 0
gg_elimination 1
gg_turbo 0
gg_multikill_override 2

DEATHMATCH
-----------------
gg_elimination 0
gg_deathmatch 1
gg_turbo 1
gg_multikill_override 1

NORMAL
-----------------
gg_elimination 0
gg_deathmatch 0
gg_turbo 0
gg_multikill_override 1

Do these look OK or is there a new way to do this?
Is MULTIKILL still in use?
I can set these manually during the game, but that is such a pain.

Thanks again for all your help,
PCH

When you say:

do you mean cstrike/maps/cfg/ ?

Yes, I do have them in the correct directory -

CSTRIKE/MAPS/CFG

OK - I watched carefully. I think that the map config is executed after the warmup round. I'm seeing it set the mode (DM / Elim).
I'll keep watching and make sure that things running correctly. I'm trying to organize my map configs into something more easily managed.
I'll probably do something in Perl that generate a master file where each map's config is specified and then generate the individual files for each map.
This way you can edit a single file to manage all of the maps.

The game is running noticeably faster with better registration.
Most of our maps are Deathmatch with 2 kills to advance (no Turbo).
You now get so many kills per death that we often hit 75 kills before there is a winner.
This is a huge boost in performance - GREAT JOB.

That's the kind of stuff I like to hear. 8-)
