Need help with server

Ok so i got my gungame all updated, srcds starts up just fine, i go into cs to join my server but i get the message "This server is using an older protocol than your client"
Im stumped, im not sure what to do now.
help please.
p.s. i've already tried c:\srcds\hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir C:\srcds
and have no luck, all it says is that everythings up to date.

I would try using the -verify_all flag.

Bringing my topic back from the dead, created a new server today, Im having these issues, hope someone can help me out. screen shot attached, it shows what you see in the screen shot then disappears within a blink of an eye

ok i fixed that issue, not i get the issue attached, i tried updating already via cmd using the following commands
cd \hlserver
hldsupdatetool.exe -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir c:\hlserver
it says nothing needs to be downloaded and just closes after its sweep.......

The hldsupdatetool has been retired. You have to use SteamCmd now to update your server.

https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMDAlso note that your directory structure will be changed after using this so read instructions carefully.

Yeah i figured that out from google last night. got that fixed. now i have this issue and its driving me crazy, i start the server, i try to join or have a friend join and the server crashes right away. 1st (4) attachments is what it loads. 2nd is the crash/error. I've gone to the logs folder and there's nothing for this crash.

Ok so i went ahead and erased everything and did a complete reinstall, still crashes when someone tries to connect.
