Change Map List based on Player Count

Postby Worm » Fri Apr 16, 2010 11:52 am

Is it possible to change the map list based on the Player Count?
That way, when there is a smaller number of players on the server, smaller maps would be put into rotation.
And when the player count exceed a certain threshold, larger maps would be put into rotation.

This would avoid the problem of large maps being used when only a smaller number of players on the server leading
to long and drawn-out gungames.

Thank you for your help.

Want the same reply here? :D

jk, it's not going to be a Gungame-specific type of modification so you may want to try a request on the ES forums:

../cfg/gungame51/gg_vote_list.txt wrote://-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
// GunGame 5.1 GunGame Development Team
// gg_vote_list.txt
//
// >> Information:
// =========================================================================
// You can use this file, or another of this format, to filter
// maps for map voting (gg_map_vote) based on player count. You can
// specify a minimum amount of players that must be currently logged
// in on the server before the map will display in the vote list.
//
// Format: <map name> [minimum players]
//
// >> Example:
// =========================================================================
// For bigger maps such as knas_speedcastle_css or de_dust2 you might
// not want to include that map in your rotation unless there were at
// least 10 players on the server. However, you may always want to
// include shotty, since its a relatively small map.
//
// So you would add:
//
// knas_speedcastle_css 10
// de_dust2 10
// aim_shotty
//
//
// >> FAQ:
// ==========================================================================
// * It is not necessary to include a minimum player filter for every
// map. If the number is blank, 0 is assumed and the map will always
// be available.
//
// * You CANNOT get this functionality from "maplist.txt" or
// "mapcycle.txt"! You must copy that list into this file.
//
// * You will see errors from GunGame if none of the maps meet
// the player requirements. Its recommended to leave several
// maps without a filter for this reason.

I stand corrected. :D

Is that new in 5.1 or have I completely overlooked it before?

Well this is probably the one thing i was most excited about when i first looked through the config files for gungame5.1.
Excellent job :]
I was wondering though if there is a way to get RTV to follow these same rules though?

GunGame does not have RTV functionality. That's up to whatever you use for RTV.
