Latest Steam Update broke things?

I got a message from one of my clan members today and he said that there was a new Steam Server update out.
I just updated the server and GunGame is broken once again.

As soon as you join you get a message about a network disconnection.

I tried restarting the Server Process and Restarting the Steam Client, but nothing works.
It's been almost 3 months since they broke last broke it. I guess we should be happy.


I thought you would want to know.

I checked a few other servers and found some that have the same behavior.

Some worked, but I'm assuming they didn't update yet.

Yeah i just updated mine and as soon as you enter the server it crashes.

An official Steam update was released to today that is crashing servers as soon as it is installed. Please do not update your CS:S server until Steam has resolved this issue.

If you have already ran a Steam update and your server as ceased working properly then you will need to reinstall the server to get it back into normal working condition.

I think what he means is that if the css update is run on the client side (which servers owners can not prevent) then they will not be able to join a server that has not updated yet. And since most people will have css update automatically and take effect once they restart steam, not updating the server would leave all of these people unable to join the server.

Not updating the server is definitely not a fix.

your provider is just putting that to cover their ass since you're paying for the server. fact of the matter is, once players update their game they won't be able to connect to your server if it is running the old version.

First, please keep it civil. Name calling and flamebaiting will not be tolerated.

Huggs, I see that you are running this as a Client (Create Server). I will say that while it is nice to be able to run your own Create Server with all the same plugins as a true Dedicated, that doesn't mean that those plugins (and scripts) are written to 'support' non-Dedicated servers. I have tested GunGame51 on my Windows 7 laptop (with a dedicated on the same system) and it works perfectly fine (and has no crashes).

If everyone who is crashing now that was not crashing before this newest update could please provide as much information as possible, it would help out a lot. This includes (but is not limited to) the Server's Operating System, all other plugins loaded, the contents of your autoexec, and any error logs/crash dumps.

i guess i should have spelled it out in detail for you people when i said i saw this in my c-panel whne i was going to update my server because it has an old version running on it. ofcourse not updating isn't a fix but if you read what i had pasted all it said was steam update is fail don't install until it's resolved or you might have to reinstall your server. i didn't say anything about not updating your server it's just an FYI. post......

I'm sorry - this is a dedicated server. I just showed you what was in a client console when it connected. There are no errors in the server log. Maybe I'm way off though and I misunderstand what you are saying. If there is anything else you you need please be specific about what logs or files you want.

Ok, I have read on the Steam Forum that SourceMod (or even possibly MetaMod) is causing crashes. I'm not sure about the specifics, but you might try running your server with just ES and SPE to see if it still crashes. Please post your results here so we know whether or not this works.

As for the errors, it seems as though something attempts to unload gg_dead_strip while gg_elimination is still running. Since gg_elimination 'requires' gg_dead_strip, it throws the error. The gg_turbo one, as you probably know is a known issue.

I'm running mani admin and got Crashes. I have since disabled mani and havnt had any reported problems since ???
